1217 Lily Street TREE07-00000572 10.10.20071
TREE CONSERVATION BOARD STAFF REPORT
TO: TREE CONSERVATION BOARD MEMBERS
FROM: DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, ZONING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
SUBJECT: TREE REMOVAL APPLICATION - 1217 LILY STREET (SECTION H, BLOCK 213, LOTS 4,5,6)
DATE: 10/01/2007
REQUESTED ACTION: THE APPLICANT HAS REQUESTED A TREE REMOVAL
PERMIT TO ALLOW THE REMOVAL OF A NUMBER OF
TREES FROM THE SITE LOCATED AT 1217 LILY
STREET, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING A
NEW SINGLE FAMILY HOME.
STAFF COMMENTS:
The application was previously issued tree removal permit #07-00000572 for this site. However, the
tree survey has been revised, and the applicant is now seeking a new review. Both interior and
exterior trees designated for removal are in close proximity or are contained within the footprint of
the proposed structure and/or the septic field. It appears that the new plan preserves additional trees
over the previous submittal.
SUGGESTED ACTION TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL
The Tree Conservation Board may consider a motion to approve this request and issue a tree
removal permit for the removal of nine (9) 6” Oaks, five (5) 7” Oaks, two (2) 8” Oaks, and
one (1) 10” Oak, for a total of 115” in the interior zone; and, for the removal of one (1) 6” Oak,
seven (7) 7” Oaks, and two (2) 8” Oaks, for a total of 71” in the exterior zone, as shown on
the tree survey submitted with this application, for the property located at 1217 Lily Street.
No interior trees designated for removal are protected and therefore do not require
mitigation. All trees designated for removal from the exterior zone are protected.
1. The existing tree canopy of the lot is not detrimentally affected.
2. The tree canopy of the adjoining lots is not detrimentally affected.
3. The topography of the lot is not such that tree removal would adversely affect the lot.
4. The applicant has made appropriate efforts to minimize loss of trees, through the size and
design of the structure.
5. The cumulative effects of the tree loss are minimal.
6. The proposed tree removals are consistent with the intent of Chapter 23, Article II of the City
of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances, and they will not be detrimental to the public welfare.
