AGENDA ITEM: Request from the Beautification Committee to approve the 19`~ Street Beach
Access Committee participating in the Public Beach Access Program to allow for
matching funds of $2,.500.

BACKGROUND: The Beautification Committee has unanimously approved the landscaping plans
of the 19`h Street Beach Access Committee. The plans include a coquina. shelUlime rock walkway, and
planting materials of sea oats, muhly grass, asparagus fern, herbs, black pines, etc. Two benches and a
bike rack are also proposed.
BUDGET: Total budget for the project is $19,000. The 19th Street Beach Access Committee has raised
$3,700 and, if approved, $2,500 from matching funds from the City will be committed to the project. In
addition, the 19`~ Street Beach Access Committee has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Jacksonville
Community Foundation and a $5,040 grant from the Mayor's Neighborhood Matching Grant Program.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving the 19`h Street Beach Access Committee's
participation in the Public Beach Access Program and authorizing matching funds of $2,500.
