Law Requiring Public Notification of Water or Sewer Increases; A new state law has been
adopted stating that local government water or sewer utilities must provide notice to their
customers of any proposed rate increase through the utilities billing process. The notice must give
the date, time and place of the meeting of the governing board where the increase will be -
considered. This notice is in addition to any other public meeting notice requirements as provided
in general law. Atlantic Beach's postcard size utility does not have enough space available to
provide this information so a separate mailing has been sent out to notify the City's utility
customers of the consideration of the proposed rate increase scheduled for the September 25~'
meeting.
