Exh 8A8A NOVEMBER 13, 2000 CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACI3 CITY COMMISSION MEETING STAFF REPORT AGENDA ITEM: List of items to be declared surplus SUBMITTED BY: Nelson Van Liere, Finance Director DATE: November 8, 2000 BACKGROUND: Over time the City accumulates various property that loses its usefiilness due to deterioration or obsolescence. This list includes such items as worn out vehicles, radios, office equipment, grounds maintenance equipment and other miscellaneous items. The attached list was generated by all departments at the request ofthe Finance Department and subsequently circulated to every department to give them opportunity to identify items that they could use. Some items were then transferred to those departments. Only items deemed truly of no use to the City are on this Iist. All items on the attached list will be presented for auction. If by the date of the auction a purpose is found for an item, that item will be struck from the list. Items not sold at auction will either be disposed of or held for subsequent auction or sold separately if possible. The date of the next City auction has been tentatively set for December Sm, 2000, at 1200 Sandpiper Lane. The viewing is scheduled for 9:OOam and the auction is to begin at 10:00am. Two changes with this auction aze: l .) The auction is being held on a weekday to improve attendance and so that dealers are more likely to attend. 2.) All employees will be allowed to bid, however, not employees on duty. BUDGET: There is no budget for this action. Proceeds from the disposal of the items will be distributed to the fiord from which the items came. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the attached list of items as surplus to the City of Atlantic Beach.
