AGENDA ITEM: Purchase of the M-51 Mobile Walking Excavator with accessories

BACKGROUND: As recommended previously by the Public Works Department and
discussed in the Budget Workshop meeting, this equipment will allow the
City to improve the maintenance of drainage ditches that aze not accessible
with our present equipment including Seminole Road Ditch, the Skate
Road Ditch, and the ditch at City Hall among others. The equipment is
very versatile and would allow staff to reshape the ditches, restore the
banks and perform mowing with the detachable flail mower.
This equipment was demonstrated in 1999 at City Hall and was very
impressive. The cost to purchase this equipment includes training of two
operators.

RECOMMENDATION: To purchase the Mobile Walking Excavator from Menzi USA
Sales Inc. with attachments and training for $150,630 in
accordance with Bid Specifications as awarded by the City of Plant
City Florida Bid #5-9900~pproved 11/22/99.
