Dear Board Members,
The Police Department has received numerous complaints in the past
relative to the music emanating from the North Shore Grille. The complaints
have typically been from residents of Neptune Beach, and they have occurred
at times when the weather conditions have exacerbated the problem. Police
Officers have noted that the music does not usually carry into the neigh-
borhood north of the Grille.
We have met with the owner of the North Shore Grille, and we believe
that he has made a genuine effort to alleviate the problem. However, the
acoustics at that location have not been changed, and we can anticipate future
problems during the spring and summer months. We believe that some structural
solution would be a positive step to prevent these problems from resurfacing.
Although the Police Department does not normally become involved in matters
before the Community Development Board, we feel that enclosing the decked area
of the North Shore Grille may be beneficial to the Community. Our experience
with the management at the North Shore Grille suggests that they will add an
attractive enclosure to the business. This enclosure has the potential to
eliminate citizen complaints without adversely affecting the business at that
location.
I hope that this information is helpful to you as you consider the proposal
discussed above. If the Police Department may be of further service to you in
this matter, please do not hesitate to ask for our assistance.
