BACKGROUND: This request is for asix-inch emergency standby sewage pump, complete with engine
and automatic level controller. This pump is for emergency use at the Gavigan Road wastewater lift station,
as it operates without electricity. Per Florida Administrative Code 62-604, we must be able to provide
"reasonable assurances of uninterrupted flow" from lift stations. Also included are three standby pumps (3-
inch, 4-inch and 6-inch) which can be used at various lift stations as needed.
We are requesting that these items be sole source, i.e. Gorman-Rupp pumps. There is only one authorized
t 'manufacturer's representative for Gorman-Rupp pumps, Blankenship & Associates, Inc. All of the above
ground lift station pumps in the Buccaneer wastewater collection system are manufactured by Gorman-
Rupp. Specifying a single brand of pump saves money on spare parts inventory, and facilitates maintenance
as parts are interchangeable. Maintenance on equipment is to be performed by the City of Atlantic Beach.
There is a one year warranty on this equipment or 18 months from date of purchase.
