BACKGROUI\'D: The annual inspection of the water tanks at Water Treatment Plant ~4 on
Apri13, 1998, indicated the water storage and hydropneumatic tanks are in need of minor
repairs, cleaning and painting. The aerator enclosure on top of the water storage tank is quite
rusted, and needs to be replaced with a fiberglass enclosure. This project is intended to be
~, completed before the peak demand season.
Specifications were prepared in-house, and bids for the project, Repair, Cleaning and Painting of
Water Tanks at Water Treatment Plant No. 4, Bid No. 9899-13, were received by the Awards
Committee on February 24, 1999. Three bids were received, and all bidders met the bidding
requirements. The low bid was from Frank Shelton, Inc. in the amount of $37,950.00.
Funds for this project were budgeted under account number 400-4301-533-6300 in the amount
of $45,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION: Award the bid for Repair, Cleaning and Painting of Water Tanks at
Water Treatment Plant No. 4 to Frank Shelton, Inc. in the amount of $37,950.00, authorize the
City Clerk to send notification of award to the bidder, and authorize the City Manager to sign the
contract.
