Kosoy, P.E., Director of Public Works ~~~ DATE: March 1, 1999 BACKGROUND: The bid opening for the Labor Only to Renovate 2"d Floor Office Space at the Public Works Building was held on 2/24/99. Two vendors submitted bid quotations. Renovation includes construction of wall frames including enclosure of bath and closet, insulation of exterior walls, hanging and finishing sheetrock, installation of underlayment over existing subflooring, installation of doors, locks, jambs, baseboards, window sill and trim as necessary, suspended ceiling grid and panels, shelving, and ceramic floor the and sanitary base in bath azea. The area to be renovated is the vacated sign shop, which was relocated to the ground floor for safety reasons. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends award of the bid to Richard Bell Building Contractor in the amount of 53,635 as they are the low bidder. This work is budgeted in account 530-5001-541-4600. Install exterior jambs 4-5l8". • Install standard suspended ceiling grid and panels (450 ft.). • Install baseboards, window sill and trim as necessary (160 l.f. & trim). • Install floor-to-ceiling shelving along north wall using Knapf & Vogt standards and brackets, and double-thick 3/4" birch plywood shelves.
