Coordinated and implemented city activities that include: A. Camp out Under the Stars was held Saturday, March 6, 1999. Campers checked-in at 3PM and the activities included balloon ties, face painting, games, monkey bridge, opening ceremony, welcome, lighting of the bonfire, campers crazy hat contest (31 contestants), line dancing and a movie. There were over 100 tents. B. After ~SChool Program in Jordan Park has an average of eight kids and a total oftwenty-two on the roll. The program is really developing into something good. The schedule is as follows: homework assistance, tutoring, outdoor games that promotes teamwork and a two on one session. The hours are 2:30 to 6:00 PM. This program is similar to the Donner Park program, but is run by Dee Davis. * Dee also is the basketball coach for the Donner Park team. * Implementing a program to help high school students go to college (prepare for the college entrance exam, financial aid, etc.). Mailed videos to several colleges on three basketball players. ~' C. After school Art Program at Adele Grage has five participants and the teacher's name is Chris Stouffer. The classes include composition, color mixing, painting with acrylics and drawing. This program is for ages eight and up. The classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00 PM and the cost is $50. D. After School Program in Donner Park. There are currently three people in the learn to read program. * Discussed the LEARN Project with BEAM. This project will begin the last nine weeks of school. The kids at the Donner and Jordan Center will turn in their progress report from the full nine weeks of school and the top six students with the greatest progress will receive a $50 shopping spree and a dinner at Ryan's. * Set up various activities for spring break. * Met with Bazbaza Price of BEAM to discuss vision screening and general health screening for senior citizens. * Distributed food commodies to approximately 150 people. !• C~ .~ * Attended the Young Achievers Awazd Banquet. There were five nominees from the Center and one made the finals 2. Prepared minutes and agendas for the following Boards and Committees: Beautification, Cultural Arts, First Night, Recreation and Teen Council 3. Attended six (6) after five meetings for a total of thirty (30) hours which included: City Commission, Cultural Arts, First Night, Recreation and Teen Council 4. Attended a preconstruction meeting for the Tresca Property. Construction is scheduled to begin in April. 5. Met with Landers-Atkin to discuss Dutton Island design. Met with City of Jacksonville representives to discuss Dutton Island development. 6. Answered questions and etc. for the Bull Pazk Project, Dutton Island RFPs and the Tresca Property 7. Coordinating a plant swap meet with the Beautification Committee. 8. Assisting the Cultural Arts Board and the First Night with a pops in the park and the Fundraiser Event. 9. Assist Patricia Goelz with the Earth Fest. 10. Other activities included daily meetings, reports, telephone calls, park inspections, and etc.
