WHEREAS, Multiple Sclerosis affects one-third of a million people in the United States,
and is one of the most common disabling neurological diseases in young adults in the nation;
and
WHEREAS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has provided a wide range of client
services in the areas of health, education and independence through its fifty-state network of
chapters; and
WHEREAS, while research advances have brought us closer to finding a cure, much
remains to be done to find the cause of Multiple Sclerosis and to find a means of prevention,
~, and services must continue to be provided to those who live with this disease.
IN RECOGNITION of the ongoing battle against this devastating disease, and the
important work of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, I Suzanne Shaughnessy, h~Iayor of
the City of Atlantic Beach, do hereby proclaim
