V~'HEREAS, all citizens are affected by our nation's rising demand for quality
long term care services; and
`~IEREAS, nursing homes provide caring and supportive services that provide
for the health, safety, and quality of life for our Loved ones; and
WI~REAS, we salute our community's citizens now residing in nursing facilities,
many of whom planted the seeds that made our community grow and prosper; and
~.-1 WHEREAS, the American Health Care Association sponsors a week each year
_ to recognize their member facilities and to familiarize the public with lonb term care
facilities and their services.
NO`Y, TI~REFORE, I, SUZANNE SHAUGHNESSY, as Mayor of the City of
Atlantic Beach, do hereby proclaim the tiveek beginning Mothers' Day, May 9, 1999, as
NURSING HOME WEEK
in Atlantic Beach, and encourage our citizens to acquaint themselves with the services
provided by nursing homes and to honor and serve the residents of our local nursing
homes by participating in a Nursing Home Week observation.
