Exh 6B(a V Sponsor: Mayor Shaughnessy RESOLUTION NO. 99-1s A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING AN ACCOUNT IN THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1999, AND FUTURE YEARS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS FOR THE ACQUISI'T'ION OF FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPIVIEN'r AND OTHER NECESSARY EXPENSES IN CONNECTION WITH THE REESTABLISH- MENT OF A CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. ~' s- z~-99 WHEREAS, the City entered into a written agreement with the City of 7acksonville on May 10, 1999, whereby the City of Jacksonville is to provide Atlantic Beach with 24 hour (around the clock) advanced life support and fire services, together with other services as set forth in said agreement, and WHEREAS, the City will realize savings slightly in excess of $300,000.00 in the first year as a result of the City of Jacksonville providing said services to Atlantic Beach, and WHEREAS, the City desires to establish an account in its operating budget beginning with the fiscal year 1999-2000 into which the fast year savings will be deposited, and an interest bearing account established, to provide funds necessary to reestablish a City fire department if it becomes necessary for any reason in the future. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows: SECTION 1. The City shall budget $300,000.00 in its 1999-2000 budget to be deposited into an interest bearing account, after final approval and implementation of said budget, for the purpose of providing funds necessary to acquire fire fighting equipment and other necessary expenses in connection with the reestablishment of a City fire department, if such becomes necessary for any reason in the future. SECTION 2. The funds in said account shall only be spent for the above described purpose unless another Resolution is passed, in writing, by the .City. SECTION 3. lfiis Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and adoption.
