I have been looking at this. I want to make sure that the fire-resistance is not reduced. Since we do not know what the existing lightweight concrete is, we can’t be that exact. I equate fire-resistance with weight per CF. Are you able to specify a Lbs/CF for the concrete? I was able to verify the existing 2x10 floor framing is sized properly for the 1-1/2” lightweight concrete and will put that together in a letter for this one. Yes, they pulled up some of the cracked portions and I brought samples back to the office. They had a lightweight bottom layer w/ a normal weight topping in some areas. I got with a local architect we work with… he says the only current UL assembly he could find that was wood framed floor w/ 1-5/8” perlite-sand (lightweight) concrete was UL516 and was not sure what the actual assembly would’ve been back then when they originally installed it. I have attached the assembly from Georgia-Pacific that he sent over. I will be checking all the current members to verify they have the capacity for the assembly but it will definitely be less weight than what was there. Thank you, Adam Russell, P.E. You have to be comfortable with the weight. The existing lightweight concrete doesn’t seem that lightweight. Has anyone tried to get a rough estimate of a cubic foot of that? We can’t control the existing construction (especially the ceiling, below), but if you find a poured product that is part of a 1-hour rated wood floor/ceiling assembly and you are comfortable with the weight, I will probably approve it. They are trying to determine what hour rating the new floor system needs to be at. I would assume we could go back with the same material and it would be just like the original…. But I wanted to get your thoughts prior to suggesting. I believe a typical 1-5/8” lightweight (perlite concrete) topping is a typical 1hr assembly but that’s not my expertise…. Typically an architect provides this info. Due to it being a replacement of existing, I think going back w/ that should suffice but ultimately I am just verifying all of the structure is good for this and the few changes they want to make.
