BACKGROUND: In accordance with our maintenance contract with the Florida
. Department of Transportation (FDOT), which was renewed at the
6/14/99 Commission Meeting, we are compensated and required to
sweep Mayport Road and Atlantic Boulevard. In addition, our
National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
Stormwater Permit requires that we sweep the City streets.
The City's current contract is with USA Services of Florida, Inc.,
which expires on July 31, 1999. We have contacted Mr. Carmine
Latanza, Vice President for USA Services of Florida, and he has
agreed to extend the contract for another year at the current prices.
The City has the option of extending the current contract for two
(2) one (1) year periods and this proposed extension will be the
first.
RECOMMENDATION: Extend the contract for one year at the price of $19,278.00 per
annum. ~l

As you are aware, the contract with the City of Atlantic Beach for street sweeping
services expires on July 31, 1999. We would like to extend the contract for another
year at the current prices, if this is acceptable to your company. If acceptable, please
sign below and return to me before June 28, 1999, so I can prepare a staff report for
the City Commission to accept the extension.
