A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE BODY-
WORN CAMERAS AND SOFTWARE.
WHEREAS, body-worn cameras have become a cutting edge tool in law enforcement;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach aims to maximize transparency, accountability,
and trust in its Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has conducted extensive testing and evaluation of
different body-worn camera systems and software and has identified appropriate body cameras
and software for purchase; and
WHEREAS, a total of 13 cameras and all necessary software to implement a body-worn
camera program can be purchased for approximately $37,000; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department can purchase this system at favorable terms by the
sole source vendor and Section 2-336(7)of Municipal Ordinance allows software purchases to be
exempted from the formal bid process and Section 2-338 (10)gives the City Manager authority to
approve purchases under this exemption; and
WHEREAS, the funds necessary to complete this purchase are available in the 2019-20
Police Department Budget;
NOW THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to engage in the
necessary city purchasing process to purchase police body-worn cameras and software in
accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
