A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF NEW EMERGENCY GENERATORS AND
AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCHES FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING,
CITY HALL AND THE CAMELIA STREET LIFT STATION.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is requesting to purchase a new Caterpillar D-
80 diesel powered generator set rated for 80 KW standby with an automatic transfer switch for
installation at the Public Works Building and a new Caterpillar D-125 diesel powered generator set
rated for 125 KW standby with an automatic transfer switch for installation at City Hall; and
WHEREAS,the Public Utilities Department is requesting to purchase a new Caterpillar DG-
50 propane powered generator set rated for 50 KW standby with an automatic transfer switch for
installation at the Camelia Street Lift Station(L.S. L); and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Building, City Hall and the Camelia Street Lift Station are
critical facilities and currently have no dedicated source of emergency backup power; and
WHEREAS, electrical power is essential for continuity of operations of these critical
facilities during severe weather events and other emergencies; and
WHEREAS, having this equipment available at these critical facilities will provide for
uninterrupted electrical service for the duration of power outages; and
WHEREAS, Ring Power Corporation quoted prices of $46,909.92 for the Public Works
Building, $59,998.15 for City Hall and $31,637.16 for the Camelia Street Lift Station from the
Sourcewell CAT Contract No. 120617-CAT per quotes dated August 28, 2020; and
WHEREAS, FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grants HMGP 4337-258-R & HMGP 4337-251-R
will reimburse the City of Atlantic Beach for 75%of the cost of the generators and automatic transfer
switches; and
WHEREAS,installation of the generators will be performed at an additional charge incurred
in next year's budget; and
WHEREAS,adequate funding is available in Public Works Department accounts 001-5002-
541-6400 and 001-1009-519-6400 and Public Utilities Department account 410-5506-535-6400 for
each generator and automatic transfer switch; and
NOW THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to approve a
Purchase Order in the amount of$138,545.23 to Ring Power Corporation for the purchase of three
new Caterpillar generators and automatic transfer switches; and
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
