AGENDA ITEM: Discussion Relative to City Manager Selection

BACKGROUND: The City Commission has had the opportunity to interview five (5)
candidates selected by the City Manager Search Committee and
Slavin Management Consultants. At this time, the City
Commission needs to discuss the various candidates and options so
that the City can proceed in the hiring process.
Mr. Slavin is under contract to negotiate the terms and conditions
of employment, once the City Commission selects its preferred
candidate.

If additional research is desired by the City Commission, the City
Commission needs to determine the mechanism, the people, and
the goals to be reached in carrying out this investigative function.
From a staff perspective, there are several candidates that appear to
be well qualified for the position of City Manager, and staffwill be
glad to facilitate the hiring process as directed by the City
Commission.
Staff recommends that the City Commission select a candidate for
City Manager, and provide direction relative to the next step in the
process.
