BACKGROUND: Bid opening for a concrete grinder was held on Wednesday,
September 1, 1999. This grinder will be used to grind down
concrete areas adjacent to areas that have settled, thus creating a
trip hazard. With this machine we will be able to eliminate this
hazard quickly, rather than having to remove the old concrete and
repour new concrete. A demonstration was performed at the -front
entrance to the police station last year; three areas were ground
down in less than an hour and the area has been in good condition
since. If the area had to be repoured we would have had to close
this entrance for at least three days.
We had one bidder submit and meet all City requirements. The
bidder was the SASE Company, Inc. The bid price for the grinder,
cutters and spare parts package is $6,638.91.
RECOMMENDATION: Award to the SASE Company Inc in the amount of $6,638.91

or provided a product during the past 12 months, of a comparable size and nature as this project.
However, naming the City of Atlantic Beach as a reference on past completed projects is
UNACCEPTABLE.
2. Proof of OCCUPATIONAL License (copies ARE acceptable).
3. Bid submitted IN TRIPLICATE (three (3) sets).
4. Signed copy of Documents Requirements Checklist.
Bid prices shall remain valid for sixty (60) days after the public opening of the bids. Goods and
services shall meet all requirements of the Ordinances of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida.
The City of Atlantic Beach reserves the right to reject any or all bids or parts of bids, waive
informalities and technicalities, make award in whole or part, with or without cause, and to make
the award in what is deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Atlantic Beach.
A person or affiliate who has been placed on the convicted vendor list following a conviction for a
public entity crime may not submit a bid on a contract to provide any goods or services to a public
entity, may not submit a bid on a contract with a public entity for the construction or repair of a
