Resolution No. 20-53WHEREAS, on October 14, 2020, one bid was received for Bid No. 2021-02: Multi -Year Contl•act for
Polymer, a chemical which is used in wastewater treatment plants to neutralize electrical charges on sludge
particles, which helps the solids clump together to thicken and dewater before disposal at the landfill; and
WHEREAS, each polymer manufacturer develops and markets several proprietary formulas. Wastewater
treatment plants are biological systems that have varied reactions to these polymers. The polymer manufacturers
conduct field tests at the plant to demonstrate that the product works; and
WHEREAS, the bidder, Fort Bend Services, met all specifications and document submittal requirements at
a price of $1.17 per pound; and
WHEREAS, Fort Bend Services is our current vendor and has been reliably supplying the City with this
chemical since 2010; and
WHEREAS, adequate funding ($30,000) for Polymer is budgeted in the Sewer Treatment account number
410-5508-535-5200 for Fiscal Year 2021.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes awarding Bid 2021-02: Multi -Year Contract for
Polymer to Fort Bend Services.
SECTION 2. The term of the contract shall be in effect for a period of five (5) calendar years. The contract
will begin on November 23, 2020 and expire November 22, 2025.
SECTION 3. Notwithstanding the provisions contained in Sections 1 and 2 above, the City's obligations
under the contract shall be subject to annual appropriations as may be approved as part of the City's annual budgets
in fiscal years 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
