A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE
ADDITIONAL BODY-WORN CAMERAS.
WHEREAS, body-worn cameras have become a cutting edge tool in law enforcement;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach aims to maximize transparency, accountability,
and trust in its Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has previously purchased appropriate body-worn
cameras and software for this system; and
WHEREAS, a total of 27 cameras and all necessary peripheral items and software to
complete a body-worn camera program can be purchased for approximately $48,000; and
WHEREAS, exemptions under Municipal Ordinance Section 2-336 (2) allow for
purchases made from sole source vendors and 2-336 (7) allow software purchases to be made
outside of the formal bid process and Section 2-338 (10) gives the City Manager authority to
approve purchases under these exemptions; and
WHEREAS, the funds necessary to complete this purchase are available in the 2020-21
Police Department Budget.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic
Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to engage in
the necessary city purchasing process to purchase additional police body-worn cameras and
peripheral equipment and software in accordance with the City Purchasing Policy.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
