CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
Commissioner Norris called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
1.PUBLIC COMMENT
No written comments were submitted and no one from the public wished to speak.
2.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approve Minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting of June 23,
2020.
B. Approve Minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting of August 25,
2020.
MOTION: Accept minutes of June 23 and August 25, 2020.

3.CULTURAL ARTS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (CARAC)
MEMBERSHIP
A. Interview Candidate - Jane Stevens
Board Member Review Committee(BMRC)
September 22,2020
The Committee interviewed Ms. Stevens. Ms. Stevens explained her personal
accomplishments, experiences, goals, and interests in the community. The Committee
offered the opportunity to ask questions and the Committee responded to those questions.
B. Discuss Candidate and Make Recommendations
The following motion was made.
MOTION: Recommend appointing Jane Stevens to the Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory
Committee.

Mr. Curtis expressed his support for the motion.

Motion passed 5 to 0.
The recommendation will be on the October 12 Commission agenda for action. Commissioner
Norris reported that she will follow up with Ms. Stevens and provide her with information on
the Sunshine Law.
4.COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BOARD (CDB) MEMBERSHIP
A. Interview Candidate - Jeff Haynie
The Committee interviewed Mr. Haynie. He explained his personal accomplishments,
experiences, goals, and interests in the community. The Committee offered the
opportunity to ask questions and the Committee responded to those questions.
B. Discuss Candidate and Make Recommendation
The following motion was made.
MOTION: Recommend appointing Jeff Haynie as a regular member on the Community
Development Board.

Commissioner Norris explained this recommendation will be on the October 12 Commission
agenda for action.
5.OTHER BUSINESS
A. Schedule Future Meetings
Commissioner Norris referred to the vacancy list in the agenda packet as she explained
the chairs were notified earlier today about the vacancies and she requested that they let
us know whether or not their expiring members are interested in being reappointed.
City Clerk Bartle reported that Mr. Brandstaetter, Mr. Curtis, and Ms. Silcox are
interested in serving additional terms, but has not heard back from the others yet.
Commissioner Norris reviewed the list and indicated that the focus should be on filling
regular member vacancies and that she is not as concerned about filling the alternate
member vacancies unless we have applicants that we are unable to place otherwise.
Meetings were tentatively set for October 13 and November 10, 2020. Commissioner
Norris explained that if there are no interviews scheduled,there will be no need to meet.
Commissioner Norris asked the Committee to help spread the word about the vacancies
and encourage those interested in serving to apply.
Ms. Clemens commented on how excited she is about the quality of applicants.
