DEP Permit: The majority of the proposed alterations and improvements take place seaward of the coastal construction line. Please obtain and submit a permit from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. 2. Retaining Wall: The proposed retaining wall at the front of the property appears to be 5.24' tall based on elevation points. Section 24-157(3)(b) limits the maximum height of retaining walls to 4 feet. Please revise accordingly. 3. Trees: Based on aerial images from 2016 and 2017, it appears multiple trees were removed from the property within the last year. Please submit a tree removal permit. Informational Comments Aluminum Fence: There is a section view of a 4’ tall optional a luminum fence on top of an 18” tall retaining wall, however the location of the fence on the site plan was not clear. Any fence on top of a retaining wall is considered an extension of the wall, meaning this fence cannot be approved since the maximum height of retaining walls is 4 feet. Moving the fence off of the retaining wall can be approved if the location is appropriate. Please measure fence heights to the top of any posts, etc. Retaining walls: The height of retaining walls are measured from the grade of the lowest side of the wall. This includes the grade at any neighbors’ yard if the wall is on the property line.
