Fleet Landing Tree Removals Email 06.13.2019Good afternoon. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me in regards
to the required tree removals at Fleet Landing as they relate to
restoring the landscape irrigation system. The following is a brief
rundown of the where we are at, and where we need to go in order to
restore irrigation to the community.
1. Across from the Mayport Road main entry welcome station within
the gated community, a large irrigation mainline leak was discovered on
Tuesday of this week. Upon exposing the main line, we found that it is
feeding from across the street into a cluster of 8 Live Oak trees of
varying age and size. Unfortunately, the line is directly under the root
balls of the tree cluster and encased in thick concrete which we
currently cannot access due to the dense root mass and trunks of the
trees.
2. We will be removing four of the trees, grinding stumps and
employing an air knife to expose all of the roots so we can gain access
to the work zone. Four of the larger Live Oak trees will remain as they
are.
3. Due to the way the pipe 90’s up into the concrete casing, we
will need a large work zone to access the leak with the right type of
equipment.
4. We will begin the arbor portion of the project on Monday and
then make the line repair on Tuesday of next week.
5. This road map is a last resort solution as we exhausted all
other options before coming to the final conclusion of what is required
to restore the system to an operational capacity. In addition, the
community recently completed two large landscape construction projects
that currently have no available irrigation.
Please advise if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Brightview and the Fleet Landing Community are very grateful for your
cooperation and we look forward to restoring the irrigation system that
provides water to ¾ of the campus.
Regards, Jay
