2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approve minutes of September 8 & 10, 2020 Cultural Arts and Recreation
Advisory Committee meeting.
Carol Silox made a correction to the minutes of September 10. Remove Mayor
Glasser adjourned the meeting. With that said, Paula motioned to approve the
minutes with the correction. Mateo seconded and the motion carried.
3. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS
A. Welcome new member Jane Stevens.
Chairperson Curtis thanked Paula for her service as this is her last meeting and
welcomed Jane Stevens to the committee.
4. ONGOING BUSINESS
A. Dog Festival
An reported that the date for the event was postponed from February to either
May 1st or 8th. She would speak with Terri Ray, check her schedule and report
back to the committee at the January meeting. She recommend naming the event
Canine Carnival, which would be on a smaller scale of the Savannah event.
B. Contribution Update
The Recreation Director reported that 12 of the 17 organizations approved for

funding have submitted invoices and have been paid. We are waiting on invoices
from the others: OMI, Deck the Chairs, Birds of Fire, Kingdom Builders and
Mayport Middle School.
The committee discussed making changes to the guidelines, which will be on the
next meeting agenda.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Election of Chairperson
Carol Silox and Eastman Curtis were nominated for Chairperson of the
committee. The vote ended in a tie, therefore; the committee will have another
election in the near future.
B. 2021 Meeting Dates
The Recreation Director will email the meeting date schedule for 2021.
C. Inside Out Art Project
Amanda Askew, Director of Planning and Community Development, summarized
the Inside Out Project and ask the committee for a recommendation on a theme
for the city. She made the following suggestions: Celebrate Diversity, People
Who Shaped Atlantic Beach, Many Faces, One Community, Our Community
Looks Like Us.
This item was tabled until the next meeting.
6. OTHER AGENDA ITEMS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Next regular meeting is scheduled for January 12, 2021.
B. Agenda items for next meeting.
Jane requested to add a city survey to the next agenda.
7. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further discussion, Chairperson Curtis adjourned the meeting at 6:57 p.m.
