A. RESOLUTION OF THE CITI' OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
ALTTHQRIZIl~TG STAFF TO PU!~.tSUE A CHANGE ZN THE DATE OF CITY
ELECTIONS, AND PRO'VIDTNG AN ~ DATE.
'UV]~-REAS, the pzzmazy election. for city commissioner is held every twa (2} years on the
fizst Tuesday in October and the general election, if necessary, is held every two (2) years on the
third Tuesday in October; and
VV1gF,RFA.S, the elections referred to above are held in odd numbered years; anal
WFiERF.AS, the City Commission desires City staff to pursue changing the dates of City
elections to even numbered years to coincide with state and federal elections, and to move the dates
of said elections to November.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Comsnisszon of the City of Aflantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. City staff shalt pursue changing the dates o:f the City elections and shall.
provide the City Commission with information regarding the procedures requited and resulting
effects thereof, including, but riot limited to, the following:
(a) Affect, if any, on current elected city commissioners; and
(b} Changes in City Charter, i.e., effective date of takzng office, terms of city
commissioners, and the like; and
(c} Ondinances and referendum necessary to implement any changes.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its f nil passage and
adoption.
