AGENDA ITEM: Curbside Depository for City Hall after hours utility payments

BACKGROUND: The City Hall after hours drop box has been in various states of dis-repair
for some time. The box has been requested to be replaced both by staff
and the former mayor. The Finance Department budgeted $800 to fund a
box identical to the existing one. After comparing the Kingsley product to
the Postal Products version, we felt the upgraded box would better
withstand the elements, look better and would be more theft proof. We
decided to request that the City purchase and install with protective posts
the same box as was installed in Neptune Beach. The box contains a
weather proof safe, stainless steel base with an 18 gauge zinc plated steel
cabinet.
The Public Works Department is in the process of arranging for two
protective bolsters to be placed in front of the box to protect it from impact
and to eliminate the orange cones that currently protect the box.
BUDGET: This item is fully funded 50% or $1,571.94 each to the water and sewer
utility funds.
RECOMMENDATION:
Purchase the Kingsley Mode10912 Curbside Depository with safe, dark
green with white wording and freight for $3,143.88
ATTACHMENTS: Faxed quote from Kingsley including specifications and photos of the
Neptune Beach box.

This 24 hour, double security depository provides convenient access 365 days a
year! The outside door, secured by a 3-pronged key lock, must be unlocked to
give access to safe.
The Cabinet
The 0912 is solidly reinforced top, bottom and throughout, constructed of 18 gauge
zinc plated steel, heliarc welded. Painted with tough automotive quality duPont
enamel. The angle iron base is covered by 18 gauge NON-RUSTING stainless
steel. The unit is designed so that when the deposit door is open, the chute to the
safe is completely closed off. Cabinet bolts to asphalt or concrete pad.
The Safe
The safe is constructed with thermocel wall
insulation with a 2 1/2" thick steel door, secured by
a combination lock.
The access door opens 9" above the sidewalk or
concrete pad, giving easy access when removing
payment envelopes. The top of the cabinet has a
10° slope front to back and a 5° slope side to side so
that rain or snow easily run off.
