This letter is being sent on behalf of Judy Wiley.
The large Maple tree growing in the backyard needs to be removed. The tree in question
is growing extremely close to the back of the house. The tree has girdling roots and root rot. The
backyard does not have enough soil space for a large tree of this species or any species similar to
the Maple. Their root systems can never grow sufficiently enough to feed the tree properly.
Therefore an ornamental tree should be selected from the designated tree list the City of Atlantic
Beach provides. These species of trees will do well in the limited space the backyard holds.
