(AME) has completed load-testing the Low Profile Quickbolt Kit w/ L-Foot (Part #17667); see Appendix A, Figure A1. The purpose of our testing was to evaluate the lateral and tensile (uplift) load capacity of the L-Foot assembly attached to a 2"x4" Douglas Fir rafter using a 5.25" Quickbolt. SAMPLE DESCRIPTION Mockup samples were delivered to our laboratory on January 9, 2017. Mockup configuration consisted of three 12" long rafters at 6.5"o.c., screwed to 1/2" Structural I plywood. The Quickbolt kit consists of a 3" EPDM washer, a 5.25" Quickbolt, and a 5/16" hex serrated flange nut. The 3" EPDM washer is fastened through the plywood into a rafter with the 5.25" Quickbolt. The L-Foot is fastened to the Quickbolt with the flange nut. TEST PROCEDURES & RESULTS 1. Lateral Load Test A total of three tests were conducted for lateral load capacity on February 1, 2017 using a United Universal testing machine. Samples were rigidly attached to the testing machine and a lateral load was applied to the L-Foot. The samples were loaded at a constant rate of axial deformation of 0.10 in. /min. without shock until the L-Foot failed; displacement at maximum load was recorded. Based on the above testing, the average maximum lateral load of the Low Profile Quickbolt Kit w/ L-Foot attached to a 2"x4" Douglas Fir rafter was determined to be 1516 lbs. Detailed results are provided in Table I. Test setup and mode of failure are provided in Appendix B, Figure B1. The specific gravity and moisture content of the rafter was tested in accordance with ASTM D2395, Method A (oven-dry). The average specific gravity and moisture content were determined to be 0.346 and 10.0%, respectively. This bulletin is effective May 7, 2018. Submit two sets of drawings, as defined under the "Construction Documents and Specifications" section, signed and sealed by the appropriate Florida professional engineer and/or architect. Complete the Building Permit Application and make sure the Owner/ Agent section has been signed, dated and notarized and the Contractor Affirmation section has been signed, dated and notarized. Please note that the contractor must be registered with the City of Jacksonville. Please be aware that, since every project is unique, there may be some situations where you will be asked to provide additional information. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS ❖ Required Permit Applications: ► Solar Photovoltaic: Building permit Electrical permit ❖ All drawings shall be a minimum size of 11" x 17" and dimensioned and drawn to a minimum of¼" scale and a minimum of 1/8" lettering. Provide an electrical diagram showing the PV array configuration, wiring system, overcurrent protection, inverter disconnect grounding, required signs, and the AC connection to the building. 2. Provide specifications sheets, installation manuals (if available) for all manufactured components including, but not limited to, the PV modules, inverter(s), combiner box, disconnect, and mounting system. 3. Provide the attachment details, flashing details, construction design for the unit and any support framing members (signed and sealed by the appropriate Florida design professional) for the Wind Zone, additional loading of the new solar equipment, and any site conditions such as but not limited to framing system (trusses or conventional framing), roofing system, existing dead loads, etc. that all items meet code requirements, in accordance with 2017 Florida Building Codes, 6th Edition, Sections 1510.7 and 1607.12.5. 4. CONTRACTORS ❖ Each of the contractors listed below, may perform all work identified in their individual scopes of work, including the installation of appurtenances, apparatus, or equipment. (AME) has completed load-testing the Low Profile Quickbolt Kit w/ L-Foot (Part #17667); see Appendix A, Figure A1. The purpose of our testing was to evaluate the lateral and tensile (uplift) load capacity of the L-Foot assembly attached to a 2"x4" Douglas Fir rafter using a 5.25" Quickbolt. SAMPLE DESCRIPTION Mockup samples were delivered to our laboratory on January 9, 2017. Mockup configuration consisted of three 12" long rafters at 6.5"o.c., screwed to 1/2" Structural I plywood. The Quickbolt kit consists of a 3" EPDM washer, a 5.25" Quickbolt, and a 5/16" hex serrated flange nut. The 3" EPDM washer is fastened through the plywood into a rafter with the 5.25" Quickbolt. The L-Foot is fastened to the Quickbolt with the flange nut. TEST PROCEDURES & RESULTS 1. Lateral Load Test A total of three tests were conducted for lateral load capacity on February 1, 2017 using a United Universal testing machine. Samples were rigidly attached to the testing machine and a lateral load was applied to the L-Foot. The samples were loaded at a constant rate of axial deformation of 0.10 in. /min. without shock until the L-Foot failed; displacement at maximum load was recorded. Based on the above testing, the average maximum lateral load of the Low Profile Quickbolt Kit w/ L-Foot attached to a 2"x4" Douglas Fir rafter was determined to be 1516 lbs. Detailed results are provided in Table I. Test setup and mode of failure are provided in Appendix B, Figure B1. The specific gravity and moisture content of the rafter was tested in accordance with ASTM D2395, Method A (oven-dry). The average specific gravity and moisture content were determined to be 0.346 and 10.0%, respectively.
