- for all three degrees was political science.
"'Dr. Carver has been involved with a number of professional and
community activities. She served from 1990 through 1993 as a
a member of the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the
Services,a committee advisory to the Secretary of Defense,and was
chair of the Career Opportunities Subcommittee and a membe of th
Executive Committee. She is a past member of the Board of€; ,
Directors of the Florida Humanities Council and chairman of the
I,: Board of Advisors of the World Affairs Council; past president of the
Women's Caucus for Political Science: South; of the Florida Political -; ,
Science Association; of the N.E. Florida Chapter of the American w.°
Society for Public Administration; and of the Jacksonville Women'
Network. Dr. Carver is a past member of the Mayor's Commission
on the Status of Women,of the Board of the Jacksonville YWCA,
member and President of the Board of St.Johns Country Day
School,and a past Board member and Secretary of the Jacksonvill-
Community Council Inc. She is currently on the boards of Menina iN
I and the jacksonville League of women voters. Dr. Carver has served '.
as Chair of the J.U. Faculty and of a number of university

i Dr. Carver's research interests are in urban government and politics,
Florida politics,and women in politics. Among the journals in which
her articles have appeared are the Journal of Politics,Urban Affairs
