Please explain any employment experience, board/committee experience, and/or community volunteer experience
relative to the board/committee applying for.
In my position as director of grants administration for the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville,I manage a$2.5 million grant program funded by the City of Jacksonville.
This responsibility entails working with both city staff and elected officials,as well as a volunteer committee of community representatives responsible for determining
grant award recommendations. Through this work,I have become familiar with Florida's Sunshine law and related ethical considerations.I have also been asked by the
Florida Dept.of State,Division of Cultural Affairs to serve on statewide committees, task forces and grant panels, including topics such as strategic planning and
determining evaluation metrics. At the Beaches,I served on the School Advisory committees for Mayport Middle School and Fletcher High School. I also was a member of a
Beaches Museum committee that explored the development of a program to recognize and promote the preservation of historically significant architecture. Please see my attached resume.
Please provide a brief explanation of your interest or any special qualifications you have in this field and your reasons
for wishing to be appointed to this board/committee.
I live within District 1306,which appears to have an opening for the Environmental Stewardship Committee.I have a special interest in serving on this committee
as my volunteer interests and charitable donations have always concentrated on environmental causes. I was a member of the Atlantic Beach
Canopy(ABC)residents group, which helped develop the City's current tree ordinance, and would like to continue to make a difference in protecting our trees.
As development pressure continues in our community,I would like to contribute to efforts to preserve our quality of life through the natural environment.
Even though my professional career has focused on arts and culture,I follow environmental issues carefully and this is the area in which I really want to serve. As an Atlantic Beach
home owner for 22 years,I have witnessed quite a bit of change in my neighborhood. I would like to help ensure that any further changes are positive ones for all.
