A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH,FLORIDA,AWARDING
BID NO. 2021-01 MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT FOR ORTHOPHOSPHATE.
WHEREAS, on October 14, 2020, two bids were received for Bid No. 2021-01:
Multi-Year Contract for Orthophosphate,a chemical which is used as a corrosion inhibitor in potable
water systems; and
WHEREAS, the original Resolution No. 20-52, awarded Bid No. 2021-01 to Shannon
Chemical, on November 9, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Shannon Chemical, at a price of$0.594 per pound, revoked their bid, stating
they cannot honor the price as submitted; and
WHEREAS,the only other bidder, Carus Chemical, meeting all required specifications and
document submittal requirements confirmed they would honor their bid at a price of$0.640; and
WHEREAS,the city has worked with Cams Chemical since 2007; and
WHEREAS, adequate funding ($5,000 per year) for Orthophosphate is budgeted in the
Water Production account number 400-5502-533-5200.
NOW THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby revokes awarding Bid 2021-01: Multi-Year
Contract for Orthophosphate to Shannon Chemical.
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes awarding Bid 2021-01: Multi-Year
Contract for Orthophosphate to Carus Chemical.
SECTION 3. The term of the contract shall be in effect for a period of five (5) calendar
years. The contract will begin on February 22, 2021 and expire November 16, 2025. The contract
is subject to annual appropriations by the City each year.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
