Resolution No. 21-25 AS AMENDEDRESOLUTION NO. 21-25 AS AMENDED A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF UP TO $57,400 TO ARTREPUBLIC FOR THE INSTALLATION OF PUBLIC ART/MURALS ALONG THE MAYPORT ROAD CORRIDOR; APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE CITY'S REDEVELOPMENT FUND AND BETTER JAX FUND FOR THIS PURPOSE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SUCH CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, for several years, private investors and the City of Atlantic Beach have been targeting the Mayport Road corridor for revitalization and investment; and now, many of the pieces are coming together; and WHEREAS, one of those crucial pieces is public art; and WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach has partnered with the Jacksonville firm ArtRepublic to put together a plan with local, regional and international artists to brighten and enlighten the corridor, highlighting the community's culture, history and opportunities; and WHEREAS, the City Commission's 2021 priorities include the following: "Mayport Road Corridor: An initiative to improve neighborhood identify, safety, and business and cultural opportunities via ... Enriching the physical environment by partnering with ArtRepublic and local artists, and providing art grants to landowners and businesses." WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach desires to spend up to $57,400 for this purpose, utilizing budgeted Fiscal Year 2020-21 funds from the City's Redevelopment Fund and Better Jax Fund. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows: SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby approves and authorizes the payment of up to $57,400 to ArtRepublic for the installation of public art/murals along the Mayport Road corridor. SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby appropriates 4*A-s up to $17,400 from the Redevelopment Fund, account number 168-1005-515.34-00, and up to $40.000 from the Better Jax Fund, account # 13 1-1009-5 19.34-00., SECTION 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the contracts and such purchase order(s) in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions of this Resolution. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
