These standards are set forth in the International Property Maintenance Code and the Florida Building Code and were adopted as part of the City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances in Chapter 6,Article II, Section 6-16. A code enforcement inspection at 569 CAMELIA ST was conducted on 5/18/2021. The City of Atlantic Beach Code Enforcement has found your property to be in violation of the City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances: NATURE OF VIOLATION: We received a complaint from the neighbor regarding raccoons living in the attic of the home. Upon inspection, a hole would observed at the base of the chimney and fur could be seen around the opening of the hole. In accordance with the International Property Maintenance Code adopted by the City of Atlantic Beach all chimneys and the exterior covering off all structures must be maintained. Openings that would allow for the harborage of wildlife must be repaired. VIOLATION CODE: 1. IPMC Sec. 304.11 Chimneys and towers. All chimneys,cooling towers, smoke stacks, and similar appurtenances shall be maintained structurally safe and sound,and in good repair.All exposed surfaces of metal or wood shall be protected from the elements and against decay or rust by periodic application of weather-coating materials,such as paint or similar surface treatment. 2. IPMC Sec. 304.6 Exterior walls. All exterior walls shall be free from holes, breaks, and loose or rotting materials;and maintained weatherproof and properly surface coated where required to prevent deterioration. 3. IPMC Sec. 302.5 Rodent harborage. All structures and exterior property shall be kept free from rodent harborage and infestation. Where rodents are found,they shall be promptly exterminated by approved processes which will not be injurious to human health. After pest elimination, proper precautions shall be taken to eliminate rodent harborage and prevent re-infestation. This letter requests that the noted violation(s) be corrected by removing the raccoons from the structure, repairing the hole in the chimney and replacing all rotten wood on the chimney within 15 days of the receipt of this notice. Replacement of siding requires an approved City of Atlantic Beach building permit. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Failure to correct the violation by the required date may result in this case being referred to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate resulting in fines up to two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per day.
