A. Approve minutes of the October 14, 2020 regular Environmental Stewardship
Committee meeting.
Minutes were approved unanimously.

4. REPORTS
A. Outreach subcommittee
• Amy Palmer gave overview of Arbor Day events being held on January 15th,
2021.
• Amy Palmer gave an update on the Arbor Day 630 -CITY Tree Promotion.
• Discussion was held about the changes to the Arbor Day 630 -CITY Tree
Promotion.
• Amy Palmer discussed the work on social media and the need for an intern.

• Mark Gabrynowicz presented the plans for the Earth Day Art Competition.
• Members discussed the plans for the Art Competition.

B. LEED Subcommittee
• Sarah Boren gave a summary of where they left off and said they plan to meet at
the end of January.
C. Tree Subcommittee
• Sarah Dark reported no new activity in the subcommittee.
• Memebers discussed tree removal within Atlantic Beach.
• Daniele Giovannucci proposed bringing examples of large tree removal issues to
Colu nission.
• Members discussed bringing this issue to Commission.
• Bruce Andrews asked staff about planting between 50-100 trees with the tree
fund monies.
• Mark suggested waiting until after the City of Jacksonville finishes Phase Two
plantings.
• Bruce Andrews and Daniele Giovannucci agreed that keeping money in the tree
fund is not productive.
• Barbie Brooksher asked if the City notifies new home owners, people looking to
buy homes in AB, and relators of the tree code.
• Sarah Dark stated that that information will be part of the welcome packet that is
being prepared.
Members discussed education of realtors and new home buyers.
• Tony instructed the subcommittee to work on a plan for this.

A. Election of Chair and Vice -Chair
• Tony Pooley asked to hear from any member who would like to be chair.
• Mark Gabrynowicz stated there is no secretary and the ordinance requires one.
• Members discussed the position and need of secretary.
• Tony Pooley deferred the discussion to the next meeting.
• Tony Pooley asked to hear from any member who would like to be chair.
• Tony Pooley reviewed the voting procedure.
• Tony Pooley opened the floor for volunteers to be chair.
• Mark Gabyrnowicz volunteered for chair.
• Dan Giovannucci questioned if this is an annual election or if the vice chair takes
the position since Tony is stepping down.
• Tony Pooley stated it is an annual election.
• Members discussed the need for training for chair positions on structural
practices.
• Tony Pooley opened the floor for any other volunteers for ESC Chair.
ACTION. To elect Mark Gabrynowicz as 2021 Environmental Stewardship Committee Chair

D. 2021 Priorities Setting
• Amanda Askew gave an overview of how to vote on the priorities.
• Deborah Andrews stated her concerns about the list of priories and the vague
statements.

• Sarah Boren proposed starting with goal setting then decide action for each goal.
• Members discussed the list and how to set priorities more efficiently.
• Tony Pooley proposed making a priority list within each subcommittee then
reporting back in the ESC monthly meeting.
• Members discussed this option.
• Linda Chippefield and Romy Vann volunteered to work on cleaning up the list
of priorities.
