Nancy DeCandis, Rosemary Fletcher, Woody Winfree and Timmy
Johnson (Board Coordinator).
Alice Garland called the meeting to order at 6:45PM. Nancy
DeCandis motioned to approve the minutes from the last
regular meeting and Rosemary Fletcher seconded and the motion
was carried:
Nancy Bodge reported that Karin got a positive response from
Lt Thompson, US Navy Liberty Board. Karin inform them of the
time and the event is scheduled for September 27, at 5:00
P.M.. The Band will perform the first 50 minutes and the
last 30 minutes. Mayport Middle School Choir will perform
for 20 minutes. The Board request the Following: Parking
for two vehicles, couple of outlets with 15amps. each and
set -up -time of two hours. An article will be given to the
Beaches Leader, Shorelines and Folio. Timmy will put up
flyers at City Hall and on the City's Board.
Nancy DeCandis reported that Sixty -Two kids attended the Art
Classes. There were two teachers; Kristin Brodt did the
Pottery and Chris Stroffer did the drawing. The response was
so positive that Chris is meeting with Timmy to discuss
holding a afterschool drawing class. Bonnie and Timmy did a
nice job of scheduling and setting up the Art Show.
The Board recommends funds from all Cultural Arts Board event
to go back into the Cultural Arts Board account.
Rosemary reported that she was informed that the First Night
Fundraiser was a lot of fun an it raised an estimated $4,800.
She spoke with Gary Seabrook, who fills the event should have
been moved back. Woody also though the event was a success
and can become a major event for First Night.
Nancy recommends taking a look at how First Night is taking
on a life of its own. There's a good possibility that First
Night may become its own corporation. This will effect how
the Cultural Arts Board oversee the First Night Committee.
Timmy informed the Board that First Night is a subcommittee
of the Cultural Arts Board and it's the Cultural Art Board
decision whether or not to incorporate.
Namcy metioned that a representative from the Cultural Arts
Board ask First Night to defer any action on becoming
independent form the City of Atlantic Beach until the pros
and cons can be presented to the Cultural Arts Board for its
review because First Night is a subcommittee of the Cultural
Arts Board. Woody Seconded and the motion carried,
