Adjournment is CULTURAL ARTS ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES OF MEETING AUGUST 19,1998 , The Cultural Arts Advisory Board held its regular meeting Wednesday, AUGUST 19, 1998 in the Lobby of,City Hall. Present were: Alice Gartland (Chairperson), Nancy Bodge, Nancy DeCandis, Rosemary Fletcher, Woody Winfree and Timmy Johnson (Board Coordinator). Alice Garland called the meeting to order at 6:45PM. Nancy DeCandis motioned to approve the minutes from the last regular meeting and Rosemary Fletcher seconded and the motion was carried: Nancy Bodge reported that Karin got a positive response from Lt Thompson, US Navy Liberty Board. Karin inform them of the time and the event is scheduled for September 27, at 5:00 P.M.. The Band will perform the first 50 minutes and the last 30 minutes. Mayport Middle School Choir will perform for 20 minutes. The Board request the Following: Parking for two vehicles, couple of outlets with 15amps. each and set -up -time of two hours. An article will be given to the Beaches Leader, Shorelines and Folio. Timmy will put up flyers at City Hall and on the City's Board. Nancy DeCandis reported that Sixty -Two kids attended the Art Classes. There were two teachers; Kristin Brodt did the Pottery and Chris Stroffer did the drawing. The response was so positive that Chris is meeting with Timmy to discuss holding a afterschool drawing class. Bonnie and Timmy did a nice job of scheduling and setting up the Art Show. The Board recommends funds from all Cultural Arts Board event to go back into the Cultural Arts Board account. Rosemary reported that she was informed that the First Night Fundraiser was a lot of fun an it raised an estimated $4,800. She spoke with Gary Seabrook, who fills the event should have been moved back. Woody also though the event was a success and can become a major event for First Night. Nancy recommends taking a look at how First Night is taking on a life of its own. There's a good possibility that First Night may become its own corporation. This will effect how the Cultural Arts Board oversee the First Night Committee. Timmy informed the Board that First Night is a subcommittee of the Cultural Arts Board and it's the Cultural Art Board decision whether or not to incorporate. Namcy metioned that a representative from the Cultural Arts Board ask First Night to defer any action on becoming independent form the City of Atlantic Beach until the pros and cons can be presented to the Cultural Arts Board for its review because First Night is a subcommittee of the Cultural Arts Board.
