Brian:
When I was asked by Riverside Homes to do storm water calculations for the Scott Residence on Live Oak Lane, I first
visited the site. Upon my inspection I realized that a 24" Laurel Oak located in the north sideyard was leaning over the
future building pad and needed to be removed. It was exhibiting signs of heart rot, had weeping holes and a tuberculated
trunk. All are indicators of a weakened tree ready to topple. This is quite common in mature Laurel Oaks which makes
them a hazard in high winds. I asked Riverside to remove the tree before it damaged the new residence. I was vindicated
in my decision when the tree was cut down, revealing a 12" hollow core. It is my understanding that this tree was a
standing hazard and does not have to be mitigated. I think the attached pictures prove this.
Please let me know if you disagree with this finding.
Thanks,
