Thank you for contacting the City of Atlantic Beach. In order to submit a code enforcement complaint, Florida
Statutes require that the complainant give their name and address. It is a new state law that went into effect
on July 1st. Once I have that information, I would be happy to go by and take a look at the property.
Regarding your second question. The 7ft rule applies to parking close to others’ driveways, not property lines.
There is no setback that pertains to how close a vehicle can be parked next to the side property line.
Sec. 21-17. - Prohibited in specific areas. Except when in compliance with the directions of a police officer or
official traffic control device, or when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic no person shall stop, stand or
park a motor vehicle, or any part thereof: (b)Within seven (7) feet of a public or private driveway upon
complaint;

Hi Toni,
Picture is of 830 Begonia St (between 6th and 9th).
1) They have two illegally parked boats. The pole is the front property line and recreational vehicles must be kept 15 feet
behind the property line. No room on either side of the house to park or put in backyard so both boats need to be
removed from the property.
2) One boat and the old black truck parked in front of it are parked right on the property line. Don't all vehicles have to
be kept 7 feet off the side property line? They have already created a rock driveway on the North side of the driveway
and hoping they don't try the same on the South side, thus the 7ft question.
Can you respond to me to answer my 7ft question and to make sure this is going to get taken care of by code
enforcement?

Dear Property Owner:
Please be advised, the City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances includes rules and regulations governing
construction activities and also maintenance standards for property within the City. These standards are set forth
in the International Property Maintenance Code and the Florida Building Code and were adopted as part of the
City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances in Chapter 6,Article II, Section 6-16.
A code enforcement inspection at 830 BEGONIA ST was conducted on 8/17/2021. The City of Atlantic Beach
Code Enforcement has found your property to be in violation of the City of Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances:
NATURE OF VIOLATION: Two boats are parked in the front yard of the property in violation of code. In
accordance with code, boats must be parked/stored so that they are at least 15 feet behind the front property line.
The boats in your front yard are parked less than 15 feet behind the front property line.
VIOLATION CODE: Sec. 24-163. (c)Recreational vehicles,boats,and trailers of all types, including travel,
boat,camping and hauling,shall not be parked or stored on any lot occupied by a dwelling or on any lot in any
residential zoning district,except in accordance with the following requirements: (2)Recreational vehicles,boats
or boat trailers or other type of trailer shall not be parked or stored closer than fifteen(15)feet from the front lot
line and shall be parked in a manner that is generally perpendicular to the front property line such that length is
not aligned in a manner that extends across the front of the lot it being the intent that recreational vehicles, boats
and trailers that are parked forward of the residence and should not excessively dominate the front of the lot.
This letter requests that the noted violation(s) be corrected by relocatin g the boats so that they are parked
in compliance with code within ten(10)days of the receipt of this notice.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Failure to correct the violation by the required date may result in
this case being referred to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate resulting in fines up to two hundred fifty
dollars ($250.00) per day. Upon completion of the action required, it is your responsibility to contact me and
